It took so long to get to the good part of the story and I almost lost interest. I am loving the family, but I have yet to get to the romance part. The only hint of a romance is between Alma Grace and Jack, whom are not the main characters. The blurb on this book is incorrect because romance between Jack and Carlene does not take place till the end of the book. I was kinda confused by this book because the main plot point is the chili cook off, which does not take place until, you guessed it, the end of the book. I was expecting to see a romance blossoming, but instead I got a, what felt like, a television show. There is no particular point of view because it follows all of the characters in the family. I am not sure what time period takes place, but the idea of women in this books sounds like the fifties or something.

The one thing that I do love about this book is the family and their bickering. The writing was good and I loved the Texas drawl and I do love me a handsome cowboy. yes.. I really do not have a lot to say because the book was mediocre and I was barely entertained.

Author: Emily March Release Date: June 25, 2019 Right from the start this book grabbed me and I have never been so happy to be held hostage. This book was wonderful and it made me feel so alive. This is the feeling that I get when I read a good book and I just want to lay here and bask in its glory. The romance, the drama, the rawness, and the superb writing hit every mark for me. I have read one other book by this author and it was titled A Kiss of Spring and that was a 5 star read for me as well.
