What is it about quiet, broody cowboys that drives us women wild?  Is it the foul mouth or the panty dropping tone?  Whatever it may be, it is in this book.  I think I lost my religion while reading this book because it was so dirty. Grrrr.!!  My inner cheetah, yes cheetah because they are my favorite cat, came out… 😻I mean Wow.!! Okay let’s get to the meat of this cowboy stew shall we.

This is book 2 of the Bennett Boys Ranch series and this one is about the quiet, broody older brother, Mark.  I was so excited to read his story because he was so mysterious and who doesn't want to see a cowboy fall in love.  Hopefully you have read book 1 because I am about to drop a spoiler.  Okay…Mark's younger brother James from book 1 is getting married at  resort outside of town and this is where Mark meets Katelyn, an event coordinator.  Now I will not go too deep into the story, but Mark and Katelyn's romance is intense and Katelyn is trying to find a way to break down Mark's walls.  I will have to say that Mark was one of the most complicated cowboys that I have read in a while and I loved every second.

First, allow me to tell you the things that I liked about the story.  The story was intense and entertaining as hell.  It was sex on a page and I felt very naughty reading it at work during my break with someone else present in the room.  This story had a little humor and I wasn't expecting that tidbit.  I loved the family dynamic with Mama Lou and the rest of the gang.  I also enjoyed witnessing Katelyn peeling back the layers of Mark.  The bigger they are, the harder they fall and boy did Mark fall flat on his face.

Even though I just gushed about this book and Mark, there were a couple of things that I did not like about this book. First, Katelyn and her obsession with "beige" and the other rainbow colors.  I felt like she used this as an excuse to be a walking mat for Mark. I am not saying that he walked all over her, but she ran after him like a puppy. Second, Katelyn's friend was annoying to me. I don't really know why, but she just did. The other thing is the overabundance of sex.  While I do love naughty things, I also like romance and the build up to it.  Now don't get me wrong, I love steam in my stories and this one in particular was great, but I did want a little bit more romance to go with steam.

Overall the story was hot, entertaining and most importantly, full of broody cowboys.  This book checked almost everything on my list and I hope it does the same for you.  The pacing was good and this book was well-written.  I recommend this read with  your tea and be prepared for some serious heat and I don't mean your tea.

Summer of Seduction

Saving Jake by Sharon Sala

Let me start by saying that I had no idea that this was book 3 in a series.  The book was so good that I thought it was a stand-alone novel.!!  This book tells the story of Jake and Laurel (which makes me think of "Arrow") and tells the story of how they became to accept each other's painful past and learning how to move forward with love.  This book is a wonderful example of storytelling and I enjoyed myself while reading this book.  The way the author tells this story makes it entertaining in a classy, simple way and I could not have asked for a better story.  This story gripped my heart and I was surprised by the chemistry that jumped off of the pages when it came to Jake and Laurel.  Laurel's daughter, Bonnie, just makes this book even more sweet than it already is.  I really miss when books were written like this and there is no specific point of view and it allows the author to explore different characters.  By allowing different charact...
