Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black

Author:  Shayla Black
Release Date:  October 17, 2017
Rating:  4 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I know that I am about a month late with this review, but I have been so busy.  My life is crazy right now so please forgive me for the late review. 😌

I think this is the 4th book in the Misadventures Series and I enjoyed this book for what it was.  We have Characters Carson, a CEO of a candy company who recently inherited it from his absent father, and Ella, a "not so famous" actress in Hollywood who is hired by Carson to play his girlfriend.  Carson has recently inherited his father's candy company and he has to find a way to fix its financial problems.  Being that he is a rookie CEO, there aren't any banks that are willing to loan him the money so he turns to his rival, Mr. Shaw to lend him the money, which is crazy by the way.  But nothing comes easy and there is a catch, Carson must marry Shaw's daughter and also give him 5% of his dad's company.  Shaw's daughter is 10 years younger than Carson and very immature.  What would you do in this situation?  Would you hire an actress to pretend to be your long lost love or soul mate?  If you answered yes to this question, then look no further because this book is built on this concept.

I like the characters in this story and their chemistry was ever so present throughout this story.  The sex was, of course, hot and scorching.  Carson was a down to earth type of character with great ambitions and Ella was also a grounded, mature character with a touch of a sex goddess.  I was actually expecting more sex, but I was okay with few sex scenes because most authors drown their books with repetitive sex scenes. This story was very different from the other books in the series because I actually got to see the development of their relationship and I connected with Ella.

When we first meet Ella, we meet a nice, grounded girl trying to make it in Hollywood, but when she meets Carson, she turns into a nymphomaniac.  She is this sex goddess, but that quickly fades away throughout the book.  It wasn’t consistent with her character.  The pacing was way off to me and this entire book takes place in 17 days. What? That is exactly what makes this story a huge fairytale.  The ending was a nice Disney princess ending with everything being resolved with a nice pretty bow.  It made me roll my eyes so much that I had to pick them up from off the floor and the ending is so cheesy.  This bothered me for some reason, but I still enjoyed the story.  This is one of those instant love and fake fiancée story arcs and if you are a fan of this category  in romance then you will most definitely enjoy this story.  I give this story 4 stars and even though this story reeked of "happily ever after" Disney princess style, I still liked this story and I had a good time reading it.  I recommend it.

Riding Hard by Laura Landish

Author:  Laura Landish Release Date:   March 26, 2019 What is it about quiet, broody cowboys that drives us women wild?   Is it the foul mouth or the panty dropping tone?   Whatever it may be, it is in this book.   I think I lost my religion while reading this book because it was so dirty. Summer of Seduction

Saving Jake by Sharon Sala

Let me start by saying that I had no idea that this was book 3 in a series.  The book was so good that I thought it was a stand-alone novel.!!  This book tells the story of Jake and Laurel (which makes me think of "Arrow") and tells the story of how they became to accept each other's painful past and learning how to move forward with love.  This book is a wonderful example of storytelling and I enjoyed myself while reading this book.  The way the author tells this story makes it entertaining in a classy, simple way and I could not have asked for a better story.  This story gripped my heart and I was surprised by the chemistry that jumped off of the pages when it came to Jake and Laurel.  Laurel's daughter, Bonnie, just makes this book even more sweet than it already is.  I really miss when books were written like this and there is no specific point of view and it allows the author to explore different characters.  By allowing different charact...
