Misadventures With My Roommate by Elizabeth Hayley

author:  Elizabeth Hayley
Release Date:  March 27, 2018
Rating :  3 Stars ⭐⭐⭐

This story was mediocre.  Reading this book felt like an obligation and I hate feeling that way.  I had to force myself to finish this book because the characters just was not interesting to me.

I guess I already told you how I felt about it, so you are probably wondering what was this book all about?  Basically it is about roommates who have sex and falls in love, that is about it.  Well…I guess I do owe you a real review, so I will tell you the blurb. Don’t get too excited though.  😏

This book is part of a popular series called Misadventures and the books are written by different authors and each book is a stand-alone.  I think there about 15, if I'm not mistaken.  Anyways, this story gives us Blake, a quirky, non-filter having girl with a dry sense of humor and we have Gavin, a photographer and the complete opposite of Blake.  Blake and Gavin are actually co-workers at a local coffee shop and Blake's roommate just moved out and Gavin needs a place to sleep.  So why not move in together after knowing each other for about a week.  Its fate, I tell ya.  So they move in together, get it on, and someone catches feelings.  Can you guess who it was?  It isn't who you think it is.

The one thing that I liked about this book was the role reversal with the emotional unavailable character and the character willing to have a relationship.  In this case, the former would be Blake and the latter would be Gavin and that kept the book a little interesting.  Their relationship was cute in its own way and Gavin really carried this story with his humbleness.  He was sweet, he had aspirations, and mommy and daddy issues.  It gave his character depth and heart and I am so thankful for that because Blake did not.  Blake was very mysterious with a troubled childhood who also had mommy and daddy issues, but in a totally different context.  There were some humor here and there and their heart to heart was moving.

Now I have to tell you what I DID NOT like about this story.  I felt like the author was trying too hard with the Blake character.  She was supposed to be this eccentric, weird individual with dry humor, but she came off as childish and that really bothered me.  The pacing was slow and nothing was happening.  It took me waaaaay too long to finish this book because I lost interest in the characters.  I have read about 5 of the misadventures books and I really only liked only 3 of them.  I don’t think that I would be reading anymore of these.  These books do nothing for me and it has no real story line.  I was so relieved when I finished this book, so I can move on to my next book. 😌

Summer of Seduction

Saving Jake by Sharon Sala

Let me start by saying that I had no idea that this was book 3 in a series.  The book was so good that I thought it was a stand-alone novel.!!  This book tells the story of Jake and Laurel (which makes me think of "Arrow") and tells the story of how they became to accept each other's painful past and learning how to move forward with love.  This book is a wonderful example of storytelling and I enjoyed myself while reading this book.  The way the author tells this story makes it entertaining in a classy, simple way and I could not have asked for a better story.  This story gripped my heart and I was surprised by the chemistry that jumped off of the pages when it came to Jake and Laurel.  Laurel's daughter, Bonnie, just makes this book even more sweet than it already is.  I really miss when books were written like this and there is no specific point of view and it allows the author to explore different characters.  By allowing different charact...
