The Billionaire's Secrets by J.S Scott

Author: J.S Scott
Release Date: November 7, 2017

I finally got around to reading this book and I was not disappointed at least of the intensity and rawness of this story. I have followed this series and I could not wait to read Xander's story.  Xander was a rock star who witnessed the murder of his parents which resulted in addiction and PTSD.  If you have been following the series, then you know that Xander is the younger brother of Micah and Julian from the previous books. Desperate to have their brother back, Micah and Julian hire a "housekeeper" to help Xander heal and boy does she do it!! Samantha is on a mission to help Julian stay clean and to become involved in society again, no matter the cost.  Unable to deny their attraction to each other, Samantha and Xander embark on a steamy journey, but will Samantha stay after the summer is over?

Xander's story just wowed me because it was so grounded and raw.  Even though I have never suffered from PTSD or experienced such a tragic event, I felt Xander's emotions and it was written so well.  I have always been a fan of J. S Scott because she has a brilliant way of writing a character's emotions and displaying it  on the page.  Xander was everything that I thought that he would be. He was raw, emotionally unstable, and a quite a feat to conquer. Xander was almost killed and he also witnessed his parents being murdered.  This was a major element of this story and it was amazing to see Xander develop from a wounded duck to a beautiful swan. Sorry for the metaphor, but it was all that I could think of at the moment. There is quite a twist in this story that links Samantha and Xander in a way that he nor I was expecting. I really like Samantha and their first meeting was hilarious.

The pacing was a problem for me.  The book took a major nap in the middle and it was off putting. Even though the story turned real sloth like, I enjoyed Xander and Samantha's relationship and their chemistry and intensity pulled me in from the very beginning.  This is an inspiring story and it dives deep in the world of Xander and his suffering from PTSD.  The side characters was not overpowering and the author kept this story focused on Xander and Samantha and that is hard feat when the series has about 7 books. What a great series overall.!

Summer of Seduction

Saving Jake by Sharon Sala

Let me start by saying that I had no idea that this was book 3 in a series.  The book was so good that I thought it was a stand-alone novel.!!  This book tells the story of Jake and Laurel (which makes me think of "Arrow") and tells the story of how they became to accept each other's painful past and learning how to move forward with love.  This book is a wonderful example of storytelling and I enjoyed myself while reading this book.  The way the author tells this story makes it entertaining in a classy, simple way and I could not have asked for a better story.  This story gripped my heart and I was surprised by the chemistry that jumped off of the pages when it came to Jake and Laurel.  Laurel's daughter, Bonnie, just makes this book even more sweet than it already is.  I really miss when books were written like this and there is no specific point of view and it allows the author to explore different characters.  By allowing different charact...
