Why Not Tonight by Susan Mallery

Author:  Susan Mallery
Release Date: September 18, 2018

The only happiness that I felt from this story was when I had gotten to the last word on the last page. What a long and tedious road that I had to travel to get the last page. It took me quite awhile to finish this book which is not a good sign.  I actually took a break after reading this book because this book did not inspire me at all.  Well I guess I should give you a blurb, so here it goes.

We have an art gallery office manager named Natalie and broody, glass artist named Ronan who ignorantly pursue  a sexual relationship after getting trapped in his house in the mountains.  To be completely honest with you, I thought this was a mountain man story, but I was sadly mistaken.  Anyways, Natalie works in the art gallery that sells his work and his brothers' work as well.  Ronan has been M.I.A for a couple of weeks and Natalie is sent to check up on him at the house on the hill or the mountain.  A huge storm hits and she becomes trapped and has to stay a couple of nights with Ronan and his broodiness. A relationship develops and we are left wondering who will admit their feelings first.  Now let's get to hard part.

This is a 3 star for me.  The reason for this is because the characters were not interesting and I have discovered that I am not really into an artist as a hero.  Ronan was broody with daddy and mommy issues who wanted to belong and I completely felt that while reading, but I just could not connect with this story and its characters. There was not a lot of tension in this story and Natalie had nothing to offer.  While the author was describing the art pieces, I was totally lost and it really pulled me out of the story.

So you may be asking, "Why did you give it 3 stars"?  The first part of this book where they are trapped in the cabin is what pulled me in and I genuinely enjoyed this part of the book and I also like when Ronan had a major breakthrough with his family.  It was touching and raw with a small dash of intensity.

All in all, this story was okay and there was nothing special about it. And, oh yeah, this is part of a series.  If you are like me then you did not read the previous books and I wished I would have known that bit of information.  I really hate reading a book that has about 5 books before it because I feel lost and I hate feeling lost. It drives me bonkers.!!  Anyways, I don't really recommend this book, but it wasn't bad either. Just go for it if you like a broody artist with parent issues.  😕

Summer of Seduction

Saving Jake by Sharon Sala

Let me start by saying that I had no idea that this was book 3 in a series.  The book was so good that I thought it was a stand-alone novel.!!  This book tells the story of Jake and Laurel (which makes me think of "Arrow") and tells the story of how they became to accept each other's painful past and learning how to move forward with love.  This book is a wonderful example of storytelling and I enjoyed myself while reading this book.  The way the author tells this story makes it entertaining in a classy, simple way and I could not have asked for a better story.  This story gripped my heart and I was surprised by the chemistry that jumped off of the pages when it came to Jake and Laurel.  Laurel's daughter, Bonnie, just makes this book even more sweet than it already is.  I really miss when books were written like this and there is no specific point of view and it allows the author to explore different characters.  By allowing different charact...
