Renegade Cowboy by Sara Richardson

Author: Sara Richardson
Release Date: December 19, 2017
Rating:  3 Stars⭐⭐⭐

Renegade Cowboy is the third installment in the Rocky Mountain Riders Series and it focuses on the younger brother Levi and Cassidy. Levi is a bull rider who comes home to help Lucas and Lance take care of their dad.  Cassidy, on the other hand, is an EMT who takes care of her alcoholic and depressed mother.  If you have read book one or two, then you know Cassidy and Levi have a long history and you also know that Levi was a wild child who started that fire that Lucas took the rap for and went to prison.  Simply put, Levi was Cassidy's brother best friend before his tragic death.  His death has left a mark on Levi and Cassidy.  Cassidy has applied to a nursing program in Denver and she is trying to prepare her mom to live on her own.  This is basically what this book is about.

Cassidy is an independent, hard-working woman who has a heart of gold.  I love her relationship with her mother and it makes this story realistic.  Depression and alcoholism is very real and I appreciate how the author handled this wide spread issue.  In the other two books, Cassidy avoids Levi like the black plague and throughout this book she does the same.  Levi is a bull rider who loves what he does, but he begins to have second thoughts when he and Cassidy reconnects.  Levi was a well-developed character, mainly because of the other installments.  I absolutely loved his growth from wild rider to a man who has found love.

To sum up this review, this book was okay and the chemistry between Cassidy and Levi was there, but it wasn't strong enough to carry the story.  This did not make me feel things like the other two stories did.  On the other hand, I will say that this story has a lot of realism and heart with a small dose of heat to make this a solid read, but this story was not exciting to me.  Three stars is all I have to give to this book.
